Hi, I’m Elyse, the creator and mom behind Little Paper Fort.
I’ve always been interested in the hidden challenges in learning, the missing steps that aren’t always obvious until suddenly they are. When I noticed some of those issues in my child’s early writing journey, I went down a research rabbit hole.
It doesn’t take long to discover how complex writing actually is. Far more is happening beneath the surface than most of us realize. Personally, I felt a lot of relief and clarity from better understanding the prerequisite skills and recognizing the wide range of development paths that are considered “normal.”
And as a neurodivergent parent of a neurodivergent child, I’ve learned to pay attention to what feels demanding and find ways to make the next small step feel joyful and doable.
I draw from occupational therapy principles, early childhood education research, and speech-language pathology studies to understand how children develop writing skills and what supports they need along the way.

Confidence-building
I design resources that meet kids where they are, because when tasks feel too difficult, kids don’t feel capable or safe to try. Every product is built around gradual skill-building, celebrating small wins, and removing the pressure of performance.
Joy
My resources are low-pressure, interest-driven, and genuinely enjoyable. If it doesn’t feel like fun, I go back to the drawing board.
Inclusivity
I design with a range of learning styles and abilities in mind from the start, not as an afterthought. No child should feel like the materials weren’t made for them. And I use inclusive, strengths-based language throughout.
